Millions of women begin to develop age spots as they reach middle age. These brown or black spots can leave women trying to hide them with expensive creams or complicated treatments. Glacial Rx uses patented cooling technology to treat age spots and brighten skin. This new technology is the first FDA-approved dermatologic treatment to use Cryomodulation to treat these age spots.

What is Cryomodulation™?

Cryomodulation uses a blast of cold energy to hinder melanin production. This gets at the root cause of age spots. The cooling process also allows for an overall brightening of the skin, leading to reduced redness and evening out skin tone.

What Are Age Spots?

Age spots, also known as sunspots or liver spots, are caused by sun exposure. When our bodies are exposed to the sun they procedure extra pigment in order to protect us from radiation, this extra pigment is called melanin. When we get a tan, this excess pigment eventually fades, but over time, if we produce too much melanin, spots can linger. While they lighten slightly, they will not disappear on their own. These spots tend to appear at a similar time as other common aging signs due to prolonged exposure.

Common Questions

How does it work?

During the procedure, no topical numbing or anesthesia is required. This treatment is designed to be comfortable and pleasant. A practitioner will apply a cold plate to the treatment areas for about 15 to 20 seconds per area. There is no downtime after treatment, and you can immediately return to work and regular activities. The treatment can also be applied at any time of the year, unlike some laser treatments.

Is the treatment safe?

Glacial Rx is a safe treatment that is FDA-approved. Because this is a non-surgical treatment, there are very few potential side effects. These include redness and micro-crusting, which resolve on their own. If you have any concerns after treatment, the Asia Pacific Plastic surgery staff will be available to answer any questions.

When will I see the results?

After your treatment, you may see some immediate results that will improve over time. Results are generally seen in one month or less. For spots that are especially dark, you may need more than one treatment. There is no limit to how many Glacial Rx treatments you can receive. In clinical trials, 93% of patients say they saw an improvement of their spots after two months, and 90% reported that their skin was brighter and more even after one month.

Where can Glacial Rx be used?

This treatment can be used on age spots anywhere on the body. During your consultation, the areas you want to be treated will be examined, and determined if they are a good fit for Glacial Rx. You may also be given an estimate of how many treatments could be required.
