Open Position: Director of Nursing

Compensation: From $110,000.00 per year

Job Description:

The role of a Director of Nursing is a vital position within the healthcare industry. The DON is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of nursing operations within a healthcare organization. Their main objective is to ensure that high-quality patient care is delivered by the nursing staff.

The specific job duties of the DON can vary depending on the organization, but some common responsibilities include the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices; Creating and maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment for nursing staff, Collaborating with other organizational leaders and professionals to improve patient outcomes and experiences, Leading Implementing quality improvement programs to enhance patient care delivery.

In addition to these duties, a DON must possess strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of healthcare operations and industry trends. They must also stay updated with advancements in nursing practices and technology.

Overall, the Director of Nursing plays a crucial role in ensuring that nursing services are provided efficiently and effectively, ultimately contributing to the overall success of a healthcare organization.

Hours/Location: M-F 9-5 in-office or as needed in Downtown Honolulu.

Minimum Qualifications: RN licensure, BSN required. MSN/DNP or APRN(or equivalent) preferred. Two to four years experience in a high level nursing leadership role required, experience in cosmetic surgery or specialty/ASC nursing leadership preferred

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all clinical services including ASC/Medispa/ Preoperative and Postoperative Care
  • Works with other Nursing leads to develop clinical objectives, establish staffing patterns and organize workload for ASC and clinic; ultimately responsible for hiring/firing of any clinical staff with support of the Executive Director
  • Monitors safety of staff and patients; overseas facilities, accreditation safety and Infection Control, and Quality efforts delegating to clinical managers as appropriate
  • Oversees quality program, sets annual quality improvement goals, projects and programs
  • Ensures annual review of and improvement of all APS/APPS policies and procedures- address gaps in workflows and constantly works to improve processes across APS/APPS
  • Oversees day to day clinical operations and staff
  • Ensures preoperative and postoperative patient communications and processes are safe and effective to ensure smooth operations and safe pt. care/outcomes
  • Ensures clinic develops and maintains high standards of care, including clear and concise guidelines that meet with best practices such as:
  • Which patients are accepted for surgery or other types of care
  • What clearances are required for surgery
  • What pre and post operative care will be required- who provides this care and timing of care
  • What prescriptions (including narcotics) will be provided to patients under what circumstances
  • How unique or special circumstances will be managed
  • Develops agendas for and runs weekly clinical meetings, governing board meetings and other required meetings; keeps records and follows up on key issues
  • Develops and manages a training program and budget for clinical staff
  • Oversees and ensures that all clinical staff are licenced and credentialed up to date
  • Ordering of medications, narcotics/DEA control/ understand state and DEA regulations
  • Monitor controlled substance log and discrepancies
  • Oversee staffing management, and ensures safe staffing coverage
  • Provides clinical training for OR team/staff; acts as a clinical mentor/coach to other nurses and OR staff
  • Conducts Audits as needed
  • Completes peer review
  • Manages Op reports/updates surgical paperwork; maintains medical records with assistance of designees
