Asian Eye Lengthening Surgery | Honolulu, Hawaii
A canthoplasty, or Asian eye lengthening
surgery, is a procedure that alters the shape of the inner corner
of the eye. The effect of this surgery is to lengthen the eye. This
surgery can enhance the results of double eyelid surgery and is
often done at the same time.
Medial Canthoplasty
The medial epicanthal fold is a veil of skin and muscle draping in the inner segment of the eye. A large fold gives the illusion of being cross-eyed and makes the eyes look farther apart. Medial epicanthoplasty is done by removing a wedge of skin at the inner portion of the eyelid. This can open up the inner corner of the eye and greatly improve the appearance of the eyes. The eye appears lengthened after this procedure. The scar is hidden within the lower eyelid margin and is usually not visible. Contact our office today to schedule an appointment.
Lateral Canthoplasty
The outside corner of the eye can
also be reshaped to lengthen the eye. In some patients, the outer
eye corner is rounded or the length of the eye is short. Reshaping
the outer corner lengthens the eye and enhances the "almond
shape" of the Asian eye. Scars are hidden within the eyelid
margins and are usually not visible.
